Writing is often a solo project, but that doesn’t mean writers have to be on their own. We know submitting and publishing can be frustrating. Nerve-wracking. Like your labor of love just got tossed in the trash-ing.
That’s why one of our long-term goals at Chill Subs has been to foster a community where creatives of all kinds can ask for help, share advice, and support each other.
If you remember, a long time ago, we tried to do some Zoom meetups. Those were cool, but definitely aren’t gonna work for the current amount of reach we now have. It’s a problem we’re grateful for, but we still wanted to find a way for Chill Subs to feel like a conversation—not just folks commenting into a faceless void.
So, we’re launching the Chill Subs Discord. Okay, technically, we’re relaunching it. Our Discord has been around for a while, but we’ve decided to bring the server and the lovely folks who’ve found us there into the spotlight so that more people can get in on the action. Plus, we’ve decluttered and freshened things up a bit since then.
What can you do on the CS Discord?
- Share your achievements! Or virtually hug out your rejections. Either way, you’ll be surrounded by folks who Get It
- Discuss your favorite submission calls and lit mags. Maybe even discuss them with the editors themselves!
- Speaking of which, editors can promote their lit mags here! Share your own sub calls, show off your newest issue, etc.
- Ask the CS team, lit mag editors, or other creatives questions. From tech support to submitting advice, we’ve got it all
- Send a piece for people to read and workshop, or give feedback on someone else’s work. All the genres, all the time. Just make sure that if you post a piece to workshop, you also contribute to others’
- Give us suggestions for our website, our socials, or our tools! We’re always interested in hearing what folks have to say
- Just chill! Hang out, send us photos of your pets, whatever you want
That’s pretty much the whole shebang. Get in there and go crazy. Or actually, please don’t go crazy. We only have, like, two admins. So maybe just keep things chill and have a good time.
