A community of mere liberals. Discussing, defending, and applying the many varieties of liberalism.

Liberal Currents publishes writers of diverse perspectives who share an unflinching commitment to freedom, pluralism, and democracy, in opposition to authoritarianism at home and around the world. Our mission is to create a home for mere liberalism, where the many conflicting currents of the liberal tradition can enter into productive conversation.

Liberalism around the world is facing its greatest crisis since the 1930s. If we rest on our laurels, we will be overtaken. We must be bold. We must exercise creativity and ingenuity. But we must never lose sight of the liberal values we seek to promote in doing so. To meet this moment, Liberal Currents promotes thinkers who advance ambitious agendas to foster a truly open society.

For this issue, we invite you to explore ‘arts criticism’ as an act of holding space and to write a text about an area of culture that interests you, or that you deeply care about: be it an artwork, film, song, story, object, place, moment in time or a cultural movement. We’re interested in critical writing pieces that challenge the top-down, elitist approach to thinking or writing about art, and that explore the subversive potential of writing from a place of love: unconventional texts that move towards a more generous, peer-to-peer arts ecosystem. <div><br></div><div>What is a story, place, or artistic work that you think deserves to be held and remembered? Your response might ground itself directly in the urgencies, community histories or spaces of the Black Country, or it might look further afield to an idea or work that inspires you.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

2027 Summer Editorial Intern

The Information is where you go to get the most important news about technology and business first.

We founded The Information in late 2013 with a simple idea: write deeply reported articles about the technology industry that you won't find elsewhere.

Since then, we've moved markets, gotten the early scoop on billions of dollars of acquisitions and told you what's happening deep inside companies like Apple, Facebook and Google. Our stories have been followed by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Bloomberg and other major outlets thousands of times. How we compete is simple. We recruit the best reporters, give them the freedom to write about important topics and tell them not to worry about the small stuff.

Black Girl Times (BGX) is always looking for thought-provoking stories and content for Black women, girls in the Southeast and the people who love them.<div><br></div><div>We want your triumphs and your disappointments. We want your tales of personal growth, and we want to hear about the growth that still needs to happen in our community, our schools and our government. Above all, we want our readers to gain a better understanding of our identity, triumphs, struggles and the beauty of Black girls and women in the Southeast and beyond.</div>

Southern Women Stories

We make space for Black girls and women to imagine, question, create and lead. Through research, storytelling, leadership and community, we're building a future rooted in solidarity, safety and possibility.

Our mission at The Lighthouse | Black Girl Projects is to help build power. Not the kind of Black Panther Party founder Huey P. Newton described as the ability to “define phenomena” and make it “act in a desired manner.” It’s more intimate than that. I believe the genesis and fulfillment of power is space and time.

I’m talking space, literal space. Space to think, to express physically with dance, verbally with a loud voice, or without being told that one’s very being is offensive. It’s that, coupled with time.

Time to play, mourn and rejoice, time to figure things out, screw up and time to do nothing without being called lazy.

Black girls who have access to space and time have power. Powerful Black girls are autonomous, self-actualized, liberated Black girls. And perhaps those Black girls will define phenomena and make it act in a desired manner … if they so choose.

A place for people to share their passion for vinyl records and music in general through essays, interviews, and discussions

Hello. My name is Michele Catalano and I am a retired civil servant from Long Island, New York.

A mission statement for I Have That On Vinyl would be simple: a place for people to share their passion for vinyl records and music and have discussions about both.

But I don’t want a mission statement. I don’t have a mission. I have a vision. And that vision is to share, in one place, my love of music, my respect for physical media, and my desire to spread good music around. A collective love letter to vinyl and to music in general.

This is my post-retirement project, something that combines three things I am passionate about: music, writing, and making connections. Through this project, I hope to not just connect you not only with the records you know and love, but also with the records you don’t yet know. I want to connect you with people just like you; who love listening to whole albums, who love going to yard sales looking for holy grail records, who know every record store in a 25-mile radius.
